Appointment of career officials of the Higher Corps of Actuaries, Statisticians and Economists of the Social Security Administration

On 23 October, the Resolution of the Secretary of State for Territorial Policy and Civil Service, appointing career officials of the Higher Corps of Actuaries, Statisticians and Economists of the Social Security Administration, was published in the BOE.

This body was created by the 16th Additional Provision of Law 30/1984, and for admission, it is necessary to be in possession of the title of Doctor, Graduate, Engineer, Architect or Graduate.

Among the functions assigned to it are advice on budget preparation and implementation, economic studies or the processing of special fund-raising procedures. Through the use of mathematical and statistical methods, the employees and public employees of this Body draw up studies concerning the Social Security system.

In order to gain access to the Corps, a phase of opposition consisting of five exercises must be overcome:

-First exercise: Written questionnaire of 30 questions, which should be read in public session before the Court.

-Second exercise: Translation of a text from English to Spanish.

-Third exercise: Consists of a development review on the chosen agenda and specialty which will be read by the opponent in public session before the Court.

-Fourth exercise: Consists of the development in writing of a series of questions, exercises and/or problems proposed by the Tribunal, on the programmes corresponding to the Scale and specialty chosen by each opponent.

- Fifth exercise: It consists of an oral presentation of four themes, two relating to the 'Social Security' programme and two subjects to the 'Social Security Economy and Constitutional and Administrative Law' programme.

Applicants who exceed this stage will be appointed trainees and will be required to conduct a selective course of a theoretical and practical nature which will last for a maximum of six months.

The selective process that now ends was called by the Resolution of April 9, 2019, of the Assistant Secretary of the extinct Ministry of Labor, Migration and Social Security, in which 2 places were convened on the Scale of Actuaries and 5 places on the Scale of Statisticians and Economists.
