The Scientific Committee on Health, Environmental and Emerging Risks (SCHEER) of the European Union has issued a preliminary opinion on the subject, on which contributions are accepted until 25 September 2022.
The European Commission launches a public consultation on scientific evidence in radio frequencies
At the request of the Commission, the Scientific Committee on Health, Environmental and Emerging Risks (SCHEER) of the European Union has issued a preliminary opinion regarding the need to review Council Recommendation 1999/519/EC and Directive 2013/35/EU, taking into account the latest available scientific evidence on radio frequencies and health.
This preliminary opinion is now open in public consultation so that the scientific community or any other interested party can make contributions. The deadline to contribute is September 25, 2022.
So far, the SCHEER has not identified significant evidence of health risks resulting from prolonged exposure to electromagnetic radio frequency fields (such as those generated by WiFi, mobile telephone towers or other wireless technologies) if the levels are below the limits set in the annexes to Council Recommendation 1999/519/EC and Directive 2013/35/EU; which are those applied in Spain through Royal Decree 1066/2001 of 28 September.
