National public register of recognised data management organisations for altruistic purposes

Regulation (EU) 2022/868 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 30 May 2022 on European data governance and amending Regulation (EU) 2018/1724, in Chapter IV, and Law 34/2002, of 11 July, on information society services and electronic commerce, in Article 35a, regulate the national public register of recognised data management entities for altruistic purposes.

The Ministry for Digital Transformation and the Civil Service is the competent national authority for the registration of data management organizations for altruistic purposes.

The organisations registered here are of a non-profit nature and comply with the requirements laid down in Regulation (EU) 2022/868 in order to protect the rights and interests of data subjects and companies and to create confidence that the data provided for altruistic purposes serve an objective of general interest, as well as to facilitate the cross-border use of the data within it and the appearance of data sets covering several Member States:

These organisations, once registered in the Register, have the right to use the name ‘data management organisation for altruistic purposes recognised in the Union’ and are identifiable in their communications and websites by the European Commission logo:

In accordance with Article 24.5 of Regulation (EU) 2022/868, the Ministry for Digital Transformation and the Civil Service also maintains a register of organizations whose registration has been revoked for non-compliance with one or more requirements of Chapter IV of said regulation:
