Amateur radio exams
According to the provisions of the Law 9/2014, of 9 May, General of Telecommunications, the special use of the radio spectrum by radio amateurs will require the prior obtaining of an individualized administrative authorization granted by the Secretary of State for Telecommunications and Digital Infrastructures.
As provided in the Chapter II of the Amateur Radio Regulations (Order IET/1311/2013, of July 9), obtaining the amateur radio authorization will require passing the training test to operate amateur radio stations. The test, whose agenda can be consulted in the Annex II to the aforementioned Orderit shall consist of two separate parts dealing, respectively, with the following matters:
- Sufficient knowledge of electricity and radioelectricity to operate a radio amateur station.
- Mastery of the regulatory regulations relating to amateur radio stations.
The test will be carried out individually in the premises of the Provincial Head of Telecommunications Inspection (JPIT) as indicated in the application. Its duration will be 90 minutes and to overcome it it will be necessary to answer correctly 50% of the questions of each of the parties. The exam will be done using a computer and therefore requires basic knowledge about how to use it.
To participate in the exam tests to obtain the amateur radio authorization, you must:
- Fill in the Model 790 for the payment of the fee.
- Fill in the corresponding application form on the electronic headquarters for radio amateurs.
The application will be submitted electronically through the ministry headquarters using recognized, issued by any of the certifying companies that are recognized on the web of the Ministry. Those who have some type of disability that requires certain adaptations for the performance of the examination must indicate in the application the type of disability and the adaptations that they require and attach to the application the Optional Technical Opinion on Disability or medical certificate issued by the competent body. The person in charge of the JPIT will study together with the interested party the necessary adaptations and will try to provide the applicant with the facilities and means required to carry out the examination.
