TECHNICAL GUIDES

The technical guides that facilitate the understanding of the European AI Regulation and the obligations applicable to high-risk systems are not binding and do not replace the technical regulations under development, but offer practical recommendations aligned with the regulatory requirements. These documents will be updated periodically as the standards evolve, new guidelines from the European Commission are published, and the progress and results that are being obtained in the development of the AI Sandbox pilot.

Based on the experience obtained in the daily work with the participants of the Sandbox, the guides have been updated with the final purpose of publishing them. The main objective is to offer support to all Spanish companies during the current transition period, until the publication of the standards that will serve as instruments to prove compliance with the established requirements.

Due to the fact that each company, according to its size and internal organization, is in a mature phase with respect to the preparation of compliance with the Regulation, the design of the guides follows a modular organization, allowing companies and the interested public to have at their disposal:

  • Introductory and informative material that facilitates your understanding of the Regulations.
  • Technical material that serves to start landing the requirements at a technical level until standards exist.
  • Checklists of each obligation, which are tools to guide the establishment of governance and quality procedures of companies.

For the publication of these guides, previously informed by the European Commission, a thorough review has been carried out, which has included the alignment of its content with the current state of the drafts of the AI standards, the review by the committee of 40 people belonging to the panel of sandbox experts.

The publication of the guides in their Spanish version was carried out on December 11, 2025 in the official website of the AESIA, with the aim of making them available to the general public so that any interested person or entity can benefit from the work carried out within the framework of the pilot project and easily access such material. The guides have also been prepared in English.

ANNOUNCEMENT

The Secretary of State for Digitalization and Artificial Intelligence publishes the first call for applications for the Sandbox (controlled testing environment) for Artificial Intelligence.
