Economic agents

Economic agents are all companies that participate in the marketing chain of a team:

• Manufacturers: Any natural or legal person who manufactures a radio equipment, or who orders the design or manufacture of a radio equipment, and markets it under his or her name or trademark.
• Authorized representative: Representative any natural or legal person established in the European Union who has received a written mandate from a manufacturer to act on his behalf in relation to specific tasks relating to the latter's obligations under the relevant Community legislation.
• Importer: Any natural or legal person established in the European Union who places radio equipment from a third country on the Community market.
• Distributor: Any natural or legal person in the supply chain, other than the manufacturer or importer, who markets radio equipment.

The obligations of economic agents are described below.

Manufacturers shall ensure that the conformity assessment of the equipment is carried out and that the equipment has:

• Technical documentation and instructions for use.
• EU declaration of conformity.
• Marking and identification.
• Control of production and changes.

They will keep the manufacturer’s documentation.

• They will only introduce compliant devices and ensure that the manufacturer has carried out the conformity assessment, documentation and CE marking of the equipment.
• They will check that the equipment has identification and instructions for use.
• They will ensure the conditions of storage and/or transport.
• They will keep the documentation for a period of up to ten years.

• They will ensure that the equipment is CE marked and accompanied by the proper documentation.
• They will ensure the conditions of storage and/or transport.

All economic agents have an obligation to cooperate with the national market surveillance authorities of any Member State of the European Union.
