Quality and Innovation Awards in Public Management

The Quality and Innovation Awards in Public Management are governed by the Order TFP/967/2019, of 18 September, laying down the regulatory bases for the programme for the recognition of the general framework for quality improvement in the General Government of the State, approved by Royal Decree 951/2005, of 29 July and convened annually by ministerial order.

The three modalities of the awards are:

◾ Award for Excellence in Public Management. It aims to recognise the body or body which has been particularly distinguished by the increased quality of its services and is geared towards assessing the overall performance of public organisations according to reference models (EFQM, CAF).

This award can be accessed on a regular basis through the application for certification of the level of excellence, and those organisations that have obtained more than 400 points may be candidates for the award.

◾ Public Management Innovation Award. Aimed at recognising innovative practices in the provision of products or services, as well as initiatives leading to organisational improvement or management processes.

◾ Citizenship Award. Aimed at recognising the quality and impact on citizens of unique initiatives for improving systems of relationship with citizens or reversing in greater transparency, participation, accountability or integrity in the provision of public services.

Order TFP/967/2019 of 18 September, laying down the regulatory bases for the programme for the recognition of the general framework for the improvement of quality in the General Administration of the State established by Royal Decree 951/2005 of 29 July.

For the purpose of assisting organizations interested in requesting certifications, renewals or submitting nominations for the Awards, the “Guide to the recognition programme”, with supporting materials, models for applications and guidance for preparing some required documents (p.ej. memory or improvement plans).
