Program UNICO-5G Active Networks
The Single Program - 5G Active Networks is an action that is framed within Investment 1 of Component 15 of the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan (PRTR) of the Spanish economy and is funded by the European Union - NextGenerationEU, with funds from the Recovery and Resilience Mechanism established by Regulation (EU) 2021/241 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 12 February 2021.
The objective of this action is to move closer to the universalization of public electronic communications networks capable of providing 5G with a minimum speed of 100 Mbps for the downlink and 5 Mbps for the uplink, in the assigned areas and stretches of road located in municipalities with a population of less than 10,000 inhabitants, through the granting of aid to the beneficiary telecommunications operators.
The 5G mobile network deployment aid programme falls within the framework of the Digital Infrastructure Universalization Programme for Cohesion UNICO– 5G Networks and under the principles established by the Digital Spain Agendas 2025 and 2026, and the 5G Technology Promotion Strategy, encouraging its contribution to increasing economic productivity, social progress and territorial structuring.
