PROVISIONAL LIST OF APPLICATIONS FOR ASSISTANCE NOT ADMITTED TO THE EVALUATION PHASE OF THE CALL FOR ACCESS TO THE CONTROLLED TESTING ENVIRONMENT FOR RELIABLE ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE DUE TO THE NEED TO CORRECT THE DOCUMENTATION

THE DEADLINE FOR SUBMITTING APPLICATIONS IS EXTENDED UNTIL 30 JANUARY.
A technical inconvenience has been identified in the process of migration of the units to the Ministry for Digital Transformation and the Public Service, which previously depended on the Ministry of Economy. This inconvenience has generated the temporary interruption in the presentation of applications, from the 14th to the 17th of January. Once the problem has been solved, we have proceeded to verify that the system operates with total normality.
Due to this situation it is extend the deadline for submitting applications until 30 January, mediante resolución de la Secretaría de Estado de Digitalización e Inteligencia Artificial (link to the resolution).
INTRODUCTION
The European Union has approved the Artificial Intelligence Regulation (AI Act) that has already entered into force in the different Member States, being the first comprehensive Artificial Intelligence law in the world. This law promotes human-centred AI, establishes a regulatory framework for the use of AI and has the ambition to mitigate the potential impact of AI systems on fundamental rights, health and safety, as well as the protection of democracy, the rule of law and the environment.
In this context, Spain launches the first AI sandbox to promote innovation in AI in a responsible manner and with the intention of becoming a support mainly for SMEs and startups in the implementation of the requirements established by the AI law for high-risk systems.
With this objective, the First call for high-risk artificial intelligence systems.
Applications may be submitted from 23 December 2024 to 23 January 2025.
The Secretary of State for Digitalization and Artificial Intelligence, through its Office for Digital Spain 2030 and Internationalization, organized on January 9 a successful Infoday to present the bases of the call for Sandbox IA aimed at high-risk systems. The event managed to bring together more than 300 participants, both face-to-face and telematically, reflecting the great interest generated by this initiative.
