Module A or internal production control is a procedure for assessing the conformity of equipment in which the manufacturer himself is fully responsible for compliance with the essential requirements, both in the design of the equipment and in the manufacture. You do not need to go to external certification bodies (notified bodies). To do this, you must carry out the appropriate tests, with your own resources or through external laboratories.
The manufacturer using this module must generate the following documentation and make it available to market surveillance authorities, if required:
- General description. Including software and firmware and installation instructions.
- Design plans, schematics.
- Descriptions and explanations.
- List of published harmonized standards and others.
- Copy of EU declaration of conformity.
- Results of calculations, examinations.
- Verification of operational compliance in at least one Member State and information on restrictions.
- Reports of tests.
This procedure can be used in any case and, in particular, for the radio spectrum requirement, where the manufacturer has applied harmonised technical standards.
