Article 1 of the ITU Radiocommunication Regulations defines the radiodetermination service as “determining the position, velocity or other characteristics of an object, or obtaining information relating to these parameters, by means of the propagation properties of the radio waves.”
In turn, it defines the radiolocation service as “radiodetermination service for radiolocation purposes” and the radio-navigation service as “ radiodetermination service used for radio-navigation purposes”.
