Short-term events and experimental uses

Experimental uses include those intended to carry out technical tests or tests on propagation, use of new frequency bands or demonstrations of new services or technologies. Short-term events will include sporting, cultural or other events of special interest. This mode of spectrum use is regulated in the Articles 47 and 48 of the Regulation on the use of the public radio domain, approved by Royal Decree 123/2017, of February 24.

Certificates enabling the private use of the public radio domain, corresponding to experimental purposes and short-term events, shall require an individual authorisation in accordance with the article 62 of the General Law on Telecommunications and shall have the duration indicated in the resolution of the granting of such enabling title, duration that may not exceed six months in emissions for experimental purposes and one month in the case of short-duration events. Applications must be submitted at least ten working days in advance of the start of the intended period of use.

• Information on requests for individual frequency use authorization for short duration events and experimental tests.
• Information on applications for individual authorization of radioelectric spectrum use for pilot tests and short term events (temporary authorizations).

In case of specifying frequencies corresponding to the broadcast service or fixed service, please contact the official mailbox of the Sub-Directorate General of Planning and Management of the Radio Spectrum where they will be informed of the procedure to be followed.
