The roaming, or roaming, is a service by which a user can continue to use the services contracted on his mobile phone in a country different from that of his home operator without the need to change operator or carry out any additional management. The costs of roaming services are invoiced separately from the plans contracted by the user with its national operator, although they are included within the same invoice.
The main telecommunication services provided on roaming are: call service, short text message and multimedia message service (SMS and MMS) and broadband Internet access service (or data service).
In order to be able to enjoy mobile telecommunication services abroad, two conditions must be met: that the user’s mobile operator has roaming agreements with an operator in the visited country and, in the case of broadband Internet access, that the user has activated data roaming (or roaming data) on your mobile phone.
To check the first condition, it is advisable for the user to contact his operator; to check the second, it is advisable for the user to consult the instruction manual of his phone and find a way to activate data roaming. Some operators have disabled the roaming data service by default; in this case, the user must first request its operator to activate this service in order to use it.
Roaming charges vary from country to country, so it is advisable for the user to check with their operator in advance the costs of the roaming service for the country they plan to visit. In the European Union, these services have been regulated with the aim of improving competition between operators at European level and achieving a moderation of prices to match the prices of services at the national level (domestic tariff).
