Madrid, February 20, 2025.- The Minister for Digital Transformation and Public Service, Oscar López, has today received the “Public Project” award that recognizes the high quality of the service Your Help in Cybersecurity 017 of the Instituto Nacional de Cyber Security (INCIBE). The prize has been awarded within the framework of the III National Computer Engineering Awards, organized by the General Council of Professional Computer Engineering Colleges.
The minister praised the role played by “half a hundred experts who offer technical, psychosocial and legal advice from 8 a.m. to 11 p.m., 365 days a year” at the head of this service of INCIBE, “real protagonists of this prize”.
At the closing of the event, Óscar López said that “cybersecurity worries people” and that is why “measures are being taken in Europe and Spain”. In this regard, he recalled that the Council of Ministers recently approved the transposition of the NIS2 Directive, a rule that multiplies the number of critical entities that must respond to strict cybersecurity controls in sectors such as transport, banking, health, space or the nuclear industry.
A free and confidential service
The 017 service is free and confidential, and responds to the doubts and possible problems about cybersecurity that arise to Internet users in their day to day. It is aimed at companies and professionals, as well as citizens in general, with special emphasis on minors.
It has a multidisciplinary team that offers technical, psychosocial and legal advice, both preventive and reactive, on issues related to cybersecurity. Users rated it very positively, rating it with 9.6 points out of a maximum of 10.
In the year 2024, the 017 service responded to 98,546 inquiries related to cybersecurity, with an increase of more than 21% compared to 2023. Fraudulent purchases on the Internet, privacy on social networks, cyberbullying of minors, use of intimate images or false investments in cryptocurrencies are some of the most frequent queries.
It has different channels of attention, through the phone 017, Telegram @INCIBE017, WhatsApp 900 116 117, web form and in-person attention in the city of León.
The National Cybersecurity Institute (INCIBE) is an entity dependent on the Ministry of Digital Transformation and the Public Service, through the Secretary of State for Telecommunications and Digital Infrastructures, consolidated as a reference entity for the development of cybersecurity and digital confidence of citizens and companies.
