The Minister of Territorial Policy and Civil Service, Miquel Iceta, has signed agreements of the General Administration of the State (AGE) with the presidents of the Spanish Committee of Representatives of Persons with Disabilities (CERMI) and the National Federation of Associations of Self-Employed Workers (ATA), Luis Cayo Pérez and Lorenzo Amor, respectively, for identification and reduction of administrative burdens.

The two agreements signed correspond to the commitment of the Government of Spain to the simplification and the processes of reducing administrative burdens to make the structures of public administrations more flexible and overcome the difficulties that citizens and the business sector may encounter with the public sector.

The European Union and the OECD recommend that States improve the reduction of forms and declarations and encourage the simplification of administrative and regulatory procedures.

Also the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), with which UN Member States are committed, promote the creation of effective institutions that are accountable, as well as ensure the adoption at all levels of inclusive, participatory and representative decisions that respond to the needs of society.

In addition, the pandemic situation caused by COVID-19 has highlighted the need for public administrations to act swiftly to address the demands of citizens.

Once the validity of the previous conventions has been completed, new conventions are considered of interest in order to continue to analyse the regulations and to eliminate, where they are identified, bureaucratic obstacles.
