MUFACE implements the concerted electronic recipe in La Rioja

19/05/2023

The electronic prescription for the mutualist collective of agreed option attached to the provincial service of La Rioja will become a reality on 20 June. From that day onwards, pharmacies throughout the autonomous community of Riojana will supply medicines with an electronic prescription to all mutualists. This was agreed after a formal meeting held in Logroño, at the provincial headquarters of the Official College of Pharmacists, a meeting chaired by the director-general of MUFACE, Myriam Pallarés, accompanied by the General Secretary of CGCOF, Raquel Martínez.

The collaboration of MUFACE, the General Council of Official Colleges of Pharmacists (CGCOF) and the Official College of Pharmacists of La Rioja made possible the development of this project. La Rioja joins Asturias, the Canary Islands, Cantabria and Extremadura in the implementation of this system, which will extend to the rest of the autonomous communities.

In order to activate the electronic prescription, from the effective start date, each mutualist of agreed option must carry his/her Entity Health Card when he/she goes to the doctor and asks for such a prescription. With regard to mutualists temporarily displaced to La Rioja not affiliated with this provincial service, they will be able to obtain electronic prescriptions if they go to a medical service, but if they are medicines requiring a visa, they must at the moment continue to apply for them with paper recipes, as is customary.

The autonomous community of Riojana adds 6,563 mutualists who have chosen a concerted option, and together with those of Asturias, Cantabria, the Canary Islands and Extremadura will be a total of 118,275 mutualists who have chosen a concerted option and will enjoy their advantages. In total, 35% of the population already have an electronic prescription.

The electronic prescription is a simplification and streamlining project included in the MUFACE Progression Plan.
