The Directorate-General for Civil Service has published the Statistical Bulletin of Staff at the service of Public Administrations with data updated to July 2021.

It analyzes the situation of the personnel working for the Public Administrations (AAPP) from various perspectives, according to gender, age or territorial distribution, and also according to these personnel they are part of ministries, autonomous bodies or state agencies. It also dedicates a specific space of analysis for non-university teaching and universities.

According to the latest AAPP Staff Statistics Bulletin, the number of public employees as of July 2021 is 2,728,749. Of these, over half (59.54%) serve in the public sector of the Autonomous Communities, followed by 21.53% in the public sector of the Local Government and 18.92% in the public sector of the State. It maintains one of the features that define public employment in Spain, its decentralization, in line with the territorial organization of the State itself.
