At its meeting on Tuesday 6 October, the Council of Ministers adopted an Agreement authorising the payment of a voluntary contribution of EUR 88.000 to the Open Government Alliance.
This contribution is a commitment to the Open Government in its three main strands: transparency, participation and accountability.
The Open Government Alliance was formally launched in 2011, with eight founding governments (Brazil, Indonesia, Mexico, Norway, Philippines, South Africa, the United Kingdom and the United States).
The Alliance seeks to ensure that, in a sustained manner, governments are more transparent, accountable and improve their responsiveness to their citizens, with the aim of improving the quality of government, as well as the quality of services that citizens receive.
The Open Government Alliance currently has 78 participating countries from all over the world and 20 regional governments. Spain has been part of the Alliance since 2011 and has since submitted three action plans.
The III Open Government Plan ran from 2017 to 2019. Work is currently under way on the elaboration of the Fourth Open Government Plan to be adopted in the coming weeks.
