The Council of Ministers, on the proposal of the Ministry for Digital Transformation and Public Service, has today approved an investment of 98 million euros in a new creation society that will promote a large European group of Spanish audiovisual fiction, Aurora Media Inversiones, with the aim of boosting investment, productions and filming in Spain.

This operation, which will be channeled through the Spanish Society for Technological Transformation (SETT), is part of the Spain Audiovisual Hub of Europe Plan (Spain Audiovisual Hub), an initiative that is part of the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan and that leads this ministry through the Secretary of State for Digitalization and Artificial Intelligence (SEDIA).

The new investment company will be led by Secuoya Content Group, specialized in creation, production, post-production and distribution of content, and will be articulated within a public-private collaboration model in which SETT participates in 49%.

This new company aims to significantly increase the competitiveness of the Spanish industry and boost production and filming in Spain, with the consequent economic impact, estimated at more than two billion euros and the creation of 3,600 jobs (1,500 high-value-added direct jobs) in six years.

Secuoya, which was born in 2008 and has its headquarters in Tres Cantos (Madrid), has consolidated itself as one of the great Spanish audiovisual studios, through the production of series, films, documentaries and entertainment content for television, with a clear international vocation and most of them with their own intellectual property. In addition, it has an extensive catalogue of audiovisual production services (film sets, cameras, post-production, audiovisual engineering and installations) and headquarters in Mexico, Colombia, Peru, Chile, United States, Qatar and United Arab Emirates.

Spain, a key player in the European production market

This investment will not only strengthen Spain’s role as a global hub in the audiovisual ecosystem, but will also boost the development of a more integrated, competitive and relevant industry within the European market. In the last decade, Spain has consolidated itself as a fundamental player in the European production market, with an annual growth of 14%, more than double the European average, and reaching investment levels of 2.9 billion euros in 2024.

This operation is part of the second phase of the Spain Audiovisual Hub Plan. Together with the Spain Audiovisual Hub, SETT manages two more financial instruments to enhance the technological business ecosystem: PERTE Chip, dedicated to microelectronics and semiconductors, and Next Tech, which encourages private investment and improves access to financing in the strategic Spanish sectors linked to digital transformation.
