The Government launches 44 million in aid to boost the data economy in companies

- The aim is to encourage the creation of new products and services for sectoral data spaces
- From 20 December, up to EUR 1 million in project funding will be available
Madrid, December 17, 2024.- The Ministry for Digital Transformation and Public Service has published today the call for grants for the development of technological products and services based or oriented to data spaces.
Endowed with an investment of 44 million euros, it is one of the measures included in the Plan for Promoting Sectoral Data Spaces recently published by the Secretary of State for Digitalization and Artificial Intelligence.
Strategic impact in key sectors
The development of Sectoral Data Spaces marks a milestone in the country’s digital economy. The productive sectors show a high interest in the data economy, which favors the growth of the digital industry and the technological transformation in critical areas such as the Social and Care Economy, Agro-food, Sustainable mobility and transport, Health, Media or others.
Characteristics and requirements of the call
The objective of the call is to support the development of the technology industry through aid for the development of products and services aimed at data spaces and business data. These projects must offer solutions that promote the development of data spaces and the participation of companies, such as:
• Building Blocks of Data Spaces
• Data products and services
• Data processing tools
• Data space platforms
• Data discovery
• Tools to ensure regulatory compliance
The main features of this call, whose regulatory bases were published in November, are the following:
• It is aimed at companies (public or private), associations of companies and agencies of communication and diffusion of knowledge.
• It is open to any sector of activity with the exception of Tourism, which has specific aid instruments.
• The maximum bankable budget is 1 million euros per project and a minimum of 300,000 euros.
• It will be granted in competitive competition.
• Projects must be completed by 30 June 2026.

From 20 December 2024 at 9 o’clock, applications must be submitted through the form provided at the associated Electronic Headquarters of the Ministry for Digital Transformation and Public Service (https://sedediatid.digital.gob.es).
The application period will be open until January 31, 2025.
Alignment with European and national goals
This call is part of investment 1 of component 12 of the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan, contributing to the construction of the Single Data Market in Europe. The data economy has become a key driver of innovation and growth, with the value of this market in the EU estimated to reach EUR 851 billion by 2030.
