The Minister for Digital Transformation and Public Service, José Luis Escrivá, has visited in Albacete two activities of the National Institute of Cybersecurity of Spain (INCIBE), dependent on the Ministry, which raise awareness, sensitize and train citizens about the importance of cybersecurity today.

Firstly, he has inaugurated the PassVRord experience in the tent that INCIBE has deployed in the parking lot of the Carlos Belmonte football stadium. This project is part of the initiatives #ExperienceINCIBE, a set of itinerant events that, for three years, will tour the Spanish geography in order to sensitize, raise awareness, educate, promote and spread cybersecurity among all citizens. In the tent, which will be until March 20 in Albacete, Virtual Reality technology is used to teach and test the knowledge and skills in cybersecurity of visitors through activities and games.

According to the minister, “the INCIBE initiative is a very important and innovative activity, well designed and modern, which will allow us to work with all kinds of groups - families, young people, companies, educators, etc. - through multiple recreational activities to raise awareness of what cybersecurity involves and the risks associated with increasing digitalization”. This activity, which starts in Albacete, will reach 300,000 people in the next three years.

Then, Minister Escrivá went to the campus of the University of Castilla-La Mancha in Albacete, where the CyberCamp agreement with this educational institution has been presented. CyberCamp, an initiative aimed at developing the culture, awareness and cybersecurity capabilities of society through the organization of activities and events, already has agreements with 11 other universities around the country. Through the agreement presented today, workshops, seminars, conferences and seminars will be held, among other educational and informative activities, in the towns of Albacete, Almadén, Ciudad Real, Cuenca, Talavera and Toledo.

“On the one hand, new technologies offer us extraordinary opportunities in aspects such as connectivity or productivity, and we must take advantage of them; but at the same time, they have risks and threats against which we must protect ourselves with knowledge, depth and rigor. To do this, users need help from specialists, and that is what INCIBE and the University of Castilla-La Mancha are going to provide us with CyberCamp”, said Escrivá during his speech in the presentation of the agreement.
