The Government of Spain launches a Statement of Interest to identify innovative and solvent projects in the deployment of 5G and 6G technologies

  • The consultation is aimed at Public Universities and Public Research Organizations with experience in international programs of the highest scientific level in advanced 5G and 6G technology
  • The aim of the Statement of Interest is to identify solvent research and innovation projects aligned with the strategic research agenda of Europe in these technologies
  • The analysis of the proposals also aims to identify projects that have a special impact on job creation, and that promote talent and public-private collaboration, especially with SMEs.

    The Ministry of Economic Affairs and Digital Transformation has launched a Statement of Interest to identify and locate credible research and innovation projects in 5G and 6G.
    The projects must be aligned with the European strategic research and innovation agenda of 5G and 6G, in particular with the Joint Undertaking on Smart Networks and Services of the European Union. This initiative aims for European countries to develop research and innovation capabilities in the field of 6G and for the deployment of advanced 5G systems, strengthening the foundations of future digital services. In this way, it aims to promote Europe’s digital autonomy in the field of advanced digital services.
    The Expression of Interest is addressed to Public Universities and Public Research Agencies that have participated in international programs of the highest scientific level in 5G technology, which must be detailed in the documentation presented. They should also specify whether they allow public-private collaboration, especially with SMEs.
    The proposals must include the expected benefits for the territory where the project is carried out and the impact they would have for the creation of direct and indirect employment. Other aspects about which information is requested in the expressions of interest is whether it includes plans to attract talent both nationally and internationally and promotion of the Degrees, Masters and Doctorates related to Telecommunications. The proposals should also include a plan to promote effective equality between men and women.
    So much Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan like 5G Technology Drive Strategy Its objectives include leading the technological deployment of 5G and boosting the development of 6G in Europe, both in relation to infrastructures and in terms of technological innovation in tractor sectors. The Recovery Plan plans to invest 1.5 billion euros in the promotion of 5G technology in Spain
