The Minister of Economy and Enterprise accompanies H.M. the King and the President of the Government at the opening of the Mobile World Congress
The Minister of Economy and Business, Nadia Calviño, accompanied His Majesty the King of Spain and the President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez, at the inauguration of the Mobile World Congress (MWC) in Barcelona. This meeting, a reference in the technological sector worldwide, will bring together until Thursday 28 to 2,400 companies from 200 countries, 189 of them Spanish.
King Felipe VI has been informed of the main innovations presented in this edition of the Mobile, an event that focuses its proposals on the implementation of 5G technology, the Internet of Things or artificial intelligence. The Minister of Territorial Policy and Public Service, Meritxell Batet, the Minister of Science, Innovation and Universities, Pedro Duque, and other regional and municipal authorities were also present.
In the subsequent inaugural tour they have visited different pavilions, among them that of Spain, organized by Red.es, a public business entity dependent on the Ministry of Economy and Business through the Secretary of State for Digital Advancement. There, 56 Spanish companies have been established with the double objective of showing the best national projects linked to the mobile industry and offering selected companies spaces to boost their internationalization, present new products, look for investors or expand the client portfolio.
The visit to the Spanish Pavilion has allowed us to get to know first-hand initiatives to create technology for people with hearing loss or to develop a web platform that allows us to generate 3D models from photos or videos taken from any device. The King don Felipe has been informed of the state of the development of technological infrastructures in Spain, leading in Europe in the implementation of optical fiber.
Humanism in the digital revolution
Within the framework of the Mobile World Congress, the Digital Future Society was held in Barcelona, a forum to approach the digital revolution from a humanist perspective. Organized with the collaboration of the Ministry of Economy and Enterprise, Minister Nadia Calviño closed it this Sunday with a speech in which she called for an inclusive digital society that I did not leave any citizen behind and their rights are guaranteed.
