The Minister of Industry, Energy and Tourism, José Manuel Soria, presents the Digital Agenda for Spain to the Parliamentary Groups

The Minister of Industry, Energy and Tourism, José Manuel Soria, has presented to the Committee on Industry, Energy and Tourism the Digital Agenda for Spain that establishes the strategy of the Government to develop society and the digital economy in Spain during the period 2013-2015. The Agenda also provides a long-term vision marking the roadmap for meeting the European 2020 goals.

The Digital Agenda for Spain adopts all the objectives of the Digital Agenda for Europe in 2015 and also incorporates specific actions and objectives ad-hoc for Spain that are of great impact for the development of the digital economy and society in Spain. Such as the promotion of the transformative use of ICT in SMEs, support for internationalization or confidence in the digital field, among others.

The appearance before the Committee on Industry, Energy and Tourism is part of a broader process of elaboration of the Digital Agenda for Spain that is characterized by its transparency and the participation of all interested agents. The document presented incorporates new measures that reflect the result of the public consultation carried out between 25 July and 30 September and articulates the implementation of these measures through a set of specific plans.

During the next few days the members of the Commission will be able to contribute comments and suggestions to the proposal of Digital Agenda for Spain that the Minister has presented to the Parliamentary Groups. The approval of the Digital Agenda for Spain by Agreement of the Council of Ministers is scheduled for the first quarter of 2013.
