The High Level Group of Experts has delivered today to the Ministry of Industry, Energy and Tourism, through the Secretary of State for Telecommunications and for the Information Society, Víctor Calvo Sotelo, the report with its recommendations for the elaboration of the Digital Agenda for Spain.

This group, made up of qualified experts from the ICT (Information and Communication Technologies) sector, has been working since its constitution on March 22 on the report of strategic reflection on the contribution of new technologies to the great challenges facing Spanish society at the moment.

Its work is part of the broad consultation process promoted by the Ministry of Industry, Energy and Tourism to involve the whole of Spanish society in the elaboration of the Agenda.

The group has highlighted the importance of ICT for economic recovery as well as the value of the Digital Agenda for Spain proposed by the Ministry “as an essential tool to promote job creation – particularly for young people – to increase both the competitiveness and internationalization of Spanish SMEs (Small and Medium Enterprises) and the quality and efficiency of public services”.

The report identifies the main factors of change to achieve “a profound transformation of the Spanish administration and companies towards a new economic and social model increasingly focused on the Internet”, affirming that “no sector can be left out” of that transformation.
