Very high-speed broadband communication infrastructures are the cornerstone of the digital transformation of the economy and society. Therefore, the Government has placed the deployment of ultra-fast fixed networks, and that of mobile communications networks through the National 5G Plan, as the basis of the digitization strategy. The Ministry of Economy and Enterprise (MINECO) considers it key to submit to public consultation the regulatory bases for the granting of aid under the New Generation Broadband Extension Program (PEBA-NGA).
The document of the public consultation includes a series of precedents and a schematic presentation of the pillars and objectives of the PEBA-NGA Plan for the period 2019-2021, focusing on the speed objective that goes from 100 Mbps to 300 Mbps, the new model of bidding by provinces, and the incorporation of the so-called NGA grey areas as zones eligible to receive aid. The draft of a new order of regulatory bases of the PEBA-NGA program, the technical characteristics required for broadband access at speeds of 30 Mbps, 100 Mbps and 300 Mbps, for the purposes of State Aid, and the preliminary list of “NGA grey areas at less than 100Mbps” are submitted for public consultation to all interested parties.
