Summary
The Secretary of State for Telecommunications and Digital Infrastructures is analysing the advisability of developing a regulatory standard initiative consisting of a new program of support to promote deployment to provide mobile communications services with native 5G technology (5G Stand Alone or 5G SA) to areas where there is no signal coverage of presence of 4G/5G mobile networks of any operator.
The consultation is carried out on the grant scheme, on a competitive basis, for the provision of the set of active equipment and, where appropriate, the necessary additional infrastructure, for the coverage with native 5G technology and with it the provision of 5G SA services, in those geographical areas in which there is no level of presence of any 4G or 5G mobile network, and whose deployment is not credibly foreseen within 3 years, in each of the areas of concurrence.
The main features of the proposed aid scheme are described, among them:
- Object of the measure
- Modality of aid
