Public consultation on the tender for the 26 GHz frequency band for the provision of wireless broadband electronic communications services

The Secretary of State for Telecommunications and Digital Infrastructures (SETELECO) submits for consultation to all interested parties the draft of the “Order approving the specification of special administrative clauses and technical prescriptions for the granting by auction of concessions for the private use of the radio public domain in the band of 26 GHz and the corresponding auction is called”.

The band of 26 GHz it has been identified as one of the priority bands for the introduction of 5G based services in Europe, taking into account that in the European Union the use of this frequency band for mobile communication services is already harmonised. Likewise, within the “Spain Digital 2025” strategy, updated in July 2022 with the launch of “Spain Digital 2026”, one of the strategic axes is the promotion of 5G technology, and one of the objectives for the promotion of 5G technology is the availability of “A radio spectrum enabled for 5G services”. Specifically, among the lines of action of these strategies, it is to provide the market with the frequency bands dedicated to 5G technology, including the band of 26 GHz.

The recovery, transformation and resilience plan also promotes the implementation of 5G technology and includes among its reforms the award of the band of 26 GHz.

In the light of these measures, the tender documents governing the auction of the band of 26 are submitted to the interested parties for consultation. GHz.

The responses must be submitted in electronic format (electronically signed .pdf file, maximum 8 MB) with clear identification of the interested party contributing to the consultation.

In general, the responses will be considered non-confidential and, consequently, freely disseminated. In case of including in the response information that is considered to be treated as confidential, it must be clearly identified, motivating such consideration.
