Institutional declaration on the occasion of the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women.

Last Tuesday, 23 November, the Council of Ministers adopted the Institutional Declaration on the occasion of the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women on a proposal from the Minister for Equality, the Minister for Foreign Affairs, the European Union and Cooperation, the Minister for Justice, the Minister for the Interior and the Minister for Inclusion, Social Security and Migration.

This year we commemorate the twenty-sixth anniversary of the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action, which established an international roadmap to achieve equality between men and women, guiding the global fight against discrimination and obstacles to the empowerment of women and pointing to violence against women as a serious obstacle to achieving the goals of equality, development and peace.

Anniversaries call us to take stock of the advances, but also of the global and national challenges currently facing the fight for gender equality and against violence against women, in our country and internationally.
