MUFACE presents its budget for the financial year 2021

16/11/2020

On 27 October, the MUFACE General Council approved the preliminary draft budget for the Mutuality Agreement for the financial year 2021. The proposal is a total of 1,813,738,08 euros, which represents an increase of 4.21% compared to the year 2020, up to 73.2 million euros, ensuring the expenditure of all the benefits included in the portfolio of the National Health Service.

The variation produced in this exercise must take into account several determinants, such as the Health Care Concert 2020-2021, authorised by the Council of Ministers on 5 July 2019, which represents an increase of 26.3 million euros compared to 2020, and an adjustment to the current situation of the group of protected mutualists.

Moreover, the increased need for expenditure on pharmaceutical provision, based on the implementation of this exercise, has justified an increase of EUR 29.11 million for this item. There was also evidence of the need to provide adequate provision for temporary incapacity with an additional EUR 25.8 million. This is to meet the needs for higher credits due to the ageing of the working population, whose average age at the moment is almost 49 years. Nor must the impact of the current pandemic, whose estimated impact on expenditure for 2020 amounts to EUR 9 million, be discarded.

In addition, the MUFACE budget project maintains its resources to meet the financial benefits of mutualism, with a budget of EUR 302.14 million.

The preliminary draft covers the needs of the mutualists in terms of the portfolio of the National Health System and the Mutuality's own social-health care programs aligned with that portfolio, according to their responsibility.

Monthly budget implementation data can be seen in the section on Transparency of the Mutuality website, in which the current situation appears as of September 2020. The annual account is also published at this link.
