Webinar of the Official College of Telecommunications Engineers to publicise career opportunities in public administrations

On 22 September, the Official College of Telecommunications Engineers (COIT) organized an information webinar to inform Telecommunication Engineers of the professional opportunities they may find in the Public Administrations, with special reference in the Higher Body of Information Systems and Technologies of the State Administration.

Marta Balenciaga, COIT president and AEIT president, commented that “the purpose of the webinar is to advise and accompany fellow telecommunication engineers who want to present themselves to oppositions to the ICT body.”

Next, Juan Jesús Torres, Secretary General of Digital Administration of the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Digital Transformation presented the challenges faced by ICT professionals of the General State Administration, such as the implementation of the ‘España Digital 2025’ Strategy.

The rest of the event was conducted and moderated by Ana Porras del Río, a collegiate Telecommunication Engineer and head of Service in the Information Technology Division of the Ministry of Territorial Policy and Public Service since 2018.

Pilar González-Blanco, head of the Telecommunications Service of the IAM (Informatics of the City of Madrid), made a tour of all the options that exist to work in the public service: General Administration of the State, territorial and local administrations, universities, police, Guardia Civil, armed forces, European institutions and agencies, and in other international bodies.

Pedro Alonso Manjón, of the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Digital Transformation, focused his exposition on the functioning of the Higher Body of Information Systems and Technologies of the State Administration.

Ana Porras reviewed in her presentation the different phases and examinations of the selective process, influenced the need for study groups, get help with English and highlighted the relevance of the legal framework in this opposition.

Then, José Javier Rodríguez Hernández, Deputy Director General of Innovation and Smart City of the City of Madrid, explained how legal and legal knowledge can help in the administrative career.

Finally, Fernando de Pablo, general director of the Digital Office of the City Council of Madrid, showed what a Telecommunications Engineer can do in the public service and stressed that he can experience very diverse and enriching experiences.

To finalize the event, the COIT projected a video with the recorded interventions of Telecommunication Engineers of the latest promotions of the TIC Body, with messages of support to all the engineers who are encouraged to follow their steps.
