Meeting of the Jury for Quality and Innovation Awards in Public Management

Today, the Jury of the XIII edition of the Awards for Quality and Innovation in Public Management has met.

These Awards are governed by Order TFP/967/2019 of 18 September, which establishes the regulatory bases for the programme for the recognition of the general framework for quality improvement in the General Administration of the State and is convened annually by Order of the Ministry of Territorial Policy and Civil Service. They present three modalities:

-Award for Excellence in Public Management: It aims to recognize the body or body that has been particularly distinguished by the increase in the quality of its services and is oriented to the assessment of the overall performance of public organizations according to reference models (EFQM, CAF).

-Award for Innovation in Public Management: Aimed at recognizing innovative practices in the provision of products or services, as well as initiatives that generate an organizational improvement or management processes.

-Citizenship Award: Aimed at recognizing the quality and impact on citizenship of singular initiatives of improvement in the systems of relationship with citizens or that revert to greater transparency, participation, accountability or integrity in the provision of public services.

In this edition, 54 candidates from all levels of Spanish public administrations have been evaluated. In the evaluation phase prior to the Jury meeting, 83 evaluators participated, all with proven experience, competence and professionalism.

The Jury has been chaired by the Secretary-General for Civil Service, Javier Rueda, and the Director-General for Public Governance, María Pía Junquera, as Vice-President and the Assistant Director-General for General Inspection of Services of the General Administration of the State, Luisa Berrio, as Secretary.

The vocals of the Jury were: Rosa Fuentes, deputy director of the General Secretariat of the Treasury General of Social Security (as the winning organization of the Innovation and Citizenship Awards of the previous edition); Bárbara Egea, head of the section of Transparency and Good Government of the Diputación de Tarragona (as the winning organization of the Spanish Edition to Excellence)

Once the Jury’s proposal has been raised to the minister for territorial policy and public service, the Award Order will be published in the Official State Gazette.
