On November 19, the European Commission presented the European Data Strategy (Data Union Strategy) which aims to increase the availability of data for AI development and thus serve to strengthen the EU's global position on international data flows. Feeding AI with high-quality data, and fully exploiting the potential of the data, would have a direct impact on citizens. In particular, the committee focuses on
- Expanding access to data for AI to ensure our businesses have access to high-quality data needed for innovation
- Streamlining data standards to provide legal certainty for businesses and reduce compliance costs
- Safeguarding EU data sovereignty to strengthen our global position on international data flows
