The Secretary of State for Telecommunications and Digital Infrastructures, María González Veracruz, has held a working day in Navarra to get to know the audiovisual industry of the Foral Community and how fixed ultra-fast broadband connectivity is being promoted in the region.
During the visit, the Secretary of State held a meeting with the manager of the Audiovisual Cluster of Navarra (Clavicna), Arturo Cisneros, who explained how they are working to develop the industry “by coheding the territory. We are promoting a Hub in Pamplona and another in Tudela”. Of the latter, Sergio Villava has recounted the initiatives that are being put into the Royal Bardenas.
In Pamplona, the first steps are being taken to implement the Digital Audiovisual Ecosystem of Pamplona. A project led by the City Council to create a laboratory and meeting space between creative and digital companies in the sector and with funding of 1.7 million euros from the Recovery Plan.
During the day, González Veracruz also tested some of the products of the educational platform in virtual reality VR Magister, developed by Nautilus VR. Its CEO and programmer, Nuria Iso, has highlighted the importance of “educating teachers to use these platforms” because they are very powerful training tools. In a way, he added “we are doing our bit to design the education of the future”
Nautilus VR is one of the companies benefiting from the grants launched by the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Digital Transformation to promote the use of immersive technologies, Web 3 and Metaverse.
Connectivity
Accompanied by the Director of University, Innovation and Digital Transformation, Juan Cruz Cigudosa, and the delegate of the Government of Navarre, José Luis Arasti, the Secretary of State has met with the mayor of Lazagurría – a municipality of just over 100 inhabitants – to check the impact of the ultra-fast broadband that has arrived thanks to public-private collaboration.
Among the advantages, Mayor Maximo Lopez Caro points out that “at least anyone who wants can telework. At City Hall we also noticed that the speed is better.” An appreciation that the doctor shares. “The consultation is more agile when it comes to treating the patient, writing down the data, consulting hospital stories. This is an advance in the type of care.”
