The Ministry of Economic Affairs and Digital Transformation, through the State Secretariat of Telecommunications and Digital Infrastructures, has presented in public hearing the draft of the Royal Decree regulating the State Registry of Audiovisual Providers that brings the regulation into line with the current legal framework after the entry into force of the new General Law 13/2022 on Audiovisual Communication recently approved.

Among the new features of the new regulation, which adapts to the new audiovisual reality with multiple agents and services, the mandatory registration of the providers of the platform video exchange service and the providers of the audiovisual media service aggregation service is highlighted.

With the aim of providing greater transparency to the audiovisual sector and ensuring greater protection for users, the Royal Decree proposes that the providers of these services include in the aforementioned register who are responsible for the entities.

The information incorporated into the State Registry will be public and freely accessible through a computer application, with the limit of the regime of protection of personal data included in European legislation.

This Royal Decree that is presented at a public hearing also introduces modifications regarding the communication prior to providing the service at the beginning, establishing the possibility of requesting accrediting documentation in order to increase the guarantees of supervision and control of the state audiovisual market.

The public hearing will remain open until January 20 at 11 a.m. and can be consulted here. link.
