Spain, host of the third meeting of the Governmental Advisory Board of Gais-X
The Ministry of Economy and Digital Transformation, through the Data Office of the Secretary of State for Digitalization and Artificial Intelligence, and the Government of the Balearic Islands, through the Ministry of European Funds, University and Culture, have hosted the third session of the Governmental Advisory Board.
In this sense, the session of the Governmental Advisory Board The aim was to advise the Board of Directors and the Management of the European association Gais-X on matters related to the public policies of the Member States, so as to ensure the alignment between these and the strategy of the association.
The meeting took place in Palma de Mallorca this Thursday, October 27 and counted for its inauguration with the words of Carme Artigas, Secretary of State for Digitalization and Artificial Intelligence of the Government of Spain and Miquel Miquel Company i Pons, Conseller of European Funds, University and Culture of the Balearic Government. Artigas explained that “the laws, structures and tools of trust are being established to allow the protection and reuse of business, industrial and personal data at transnational levels”.
The session has been organized around four main blocks. A first block in which the association updates the council on progress in recent months. A second block called “A Vision”, which addresses the creation of a reference model that includes both a technical architecture and a set of policies on which to develop projects and services that ultimately transform the data framework of European industries and societies. A third block called “A Mission”, which focuses on how to take advantage of different perspectives and available mechanisms to achieve the objectives, addressing recent technological advances and the tools provided by the European Commission. And finally, a fourth block called “An Effort”, which serves to agree on a dynamic that allows better coordination of the actions of the different EEMMs so that the Gais-X initiative reaches European industrial ecosystems with a greater and faster transforming impact.
Within this framework, in addition, on October 27th and 28th, the sessions of the national Verticals and Hubs of Gaia -X will be hosted in order to bring together the leaders of the different Verticals - European organizations representing the industry in each sector, normally international companies - and the national Hubs of Gaia -X AISBL, in which both the success stories and the best use cases are presented, as well as to identify forms of collaboration and synergies between the projects and dependencies that may exist. Special emphasis will be placed on the Spanish tourism data space.
Gonia-X AISBL
Gais-X European Association for Data and Cloud AISBL (hereinafter Gais-X AISBL) is a pan-European non-profit organization whose objective is to promote a federated infrastructure of cloud services for the best sharing, management and exploitation of data between organizations. It is based on the values of openness, availability and transparency to promote a sovereign European Data Economy, which also underpins the digital sovereignty of the European Single Market, understanding the latter as easy access to resources, and portability.
The Presidency of the Council this year falls to Spain, whose tasks include coordinating the activities of the Council, facilitating debates and the decision-making process, as well as discussing the most critical objectives of the project.
GAIA Spanish Hub
The Spanish Gais-X hub seeks that sectoral industries of all sizes, with special attention to SMEs and micro-SMEs, create community around data, develop new solutions and promote data innovation and innovation. IA. The objective of this national hub is to accelerate the Spanish capacity in data sharing and digital sovereignty: deploy the data economy and bet on the leadership of data spaces in strategic sectors such as tourism or health; as well as generate a solid ecosystem in the field of industrial data sharing composed of research and technological development centers, large companies, SME, microenterprises and startups.
Agenda in Palma de Mallorca
During her visit to Palma de Mallorca, the Secretary of State for Digitalization and Artificial Intelligence, Carme Artigas, took the opportunity to observe the progress of other digital transformation projects carried out in the Balearic territory, in addition to data spaces.
The Secretary of State met with the President of the Balearic Islands, Francina Armengol, and with the Minister of European Funds, University and Culture, Miquel Company Pons, to update the situation of the digitization of the SMEs, thanks to programs such as the Digital Kit or the Offices Acelera Sme, two of which are in the islands. 60% of Balearic SMEs have applied for the aid of the Digital Kit and have distributed up to 700 bonds worth nine million euros.
Artigas has also visited the offices of the IBSTEAM Center, initiative of the Ministry of Education and program in charge of STEAM development (science, technology, engineering, art and mathematics) in the Balearic Islands and has had a brief conversation with his team of digital advisors. Finally, he has attended a lunch held with the Chamber of Commerce of Mallorca and the Oficina Acelera P yme of the same territory. This meeting has been useful to get to know first hand the experience of a company benefiting from the Digital Kit and a Balearic Digitizing Agent.
On the other hand, during this same week, on October 25, the Data Office in collaboration with the Secretary of State for Tourism, through SEGITTUR has organized, as a continuation of the event held last September of ‘Government impulse to a reindustrialization data-driven’ and in which it was sought to promote the alignment between the stakeholders of the national ecosystem of data spaces, created synergies and a common road map, a workshop “Cases of use of the data space of Spanish Tourism”.
