The Government launches a public consultation on the order of bases and the call for the auction to tender the 26 GHz band, one of the priorities for the deployment of 5G in Europe

    The Ministry of Economic Affairs and Digital Transformation, through the Secretary of State for Telecommunications and Digital Infrastructures, has launched a public consultation on the bases that regulate the tender of concessions of public radio domain in the band of 26 GHz, one of the priorities for the deployment of 5G in Europe.

    The conditions of the public auction for the adjudication, through open procedure, of the concessions in the band of 26 GHz.

    The order provides for the tender of 12 state concessions in the public radio domain (2,400 MHz) and 38 concessions at regional level (400 MHz) in blocks of 200 MHz- for a period of 20 years extendable by another 20.

    With this public consultation, one more step is taken to proceed to the tender of the band of 26 GHz, which will stimulate the implementation of 5G technology in Spain.

    This action is part of the milestones for the second half of 2022 included in the Recovery Plan. This action is part of the strategy of Impulse of the 5G Technology and the agenda ‘España Digital 2026, promoted by the Government.
