The Ministry of Economic Affairs and Digital Transformation, through the State Secretariat for Telecommunications and Digital Infrastructure, has launched a public consultation on the new State Registry of Audiovisual Media Service Providers.

The purpose of this consultation is to ascertain the views of the parties affected by the amendments introduced by the General Law of Audiovisual Communication, which entered into force recently. This regulation provides for the creation of a State Registry - replacing the previous one - in which new providers of video exchange through platforms must also register (Youtube, Tik Tok, etc.) and aggregators of audiovisual communication services (Vodafone, MoreMovil, etc.).

In order to deepen the transparency of the audiovisual sector and improve the rights of users, the regulation foresees that the State Registry includes more detailed information, such as who owns significant shares in the company –at least 3% of the social capital-, who is ultimately responsible for the contents broadcast, with whom viewers can contact or the number of women who are part of the administration bodies of the society, among other data.

The consultation to advance the regulatory development of the General Law of Audiovisual Communication will remain open until September 15 and can be consulted in this link.
