The Plan “Spain Audiovisual Hub“to promote Spain as an audiovisual hub of Europe was presented a year ago by the President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez, and aims to promote national audiovisual production in the digital era and attract international investment and talent. It expects an investment of 1,603 million euros until the year 2025. This allocation includes aid to the sector, but also the reinforcement of the financial instruments available to the General Administration of the State through institutions such as the Official Credit Institute (ICO) and the National Innovation Company (ENISA).
The Plan expands the base of projects eligible for funding from ICO or ENISAas well as guarantees from the Mutual Guarantee Society “Audiovisual Finance SGR” or coverage of the Spanish Export Credit Insurance Company (CESCE) for investment projects.
The presentation, organized by the Secretary of State for Telecommunications and Digital Infrastructures, was attended by representatives of these institutions who made their funding lines known. For its part, ICEX Spain Exportation and Investment has explained its latest promotional measures, including the launch of the Spain Audiovisual Hub Bureau with information for international companies interested in undertaking audiovisual production projects in Spain.
Since the implementation of the plan a year ago, there has been an increase in the number of projects from the audiovisual sector that have benefited from the funding of these institutions.
In 2020 and 2021, the Official Credit Institute, with its financing programs and the COVID Guarantee Lines, channeled 675 million euros for the sector in 4,000 operations.
