The Government completes the reorganization of the 3.5 GHz frequencies, one of the priority bands for 5G
The Government has completed the reorganization of concessions held by telecommunications operators in the frequency band 3400-3800 MHz, one of the priorities for the introduction of services based on 5G technology in Europe, putting an end to the dispersion that existed until now.
The main objective of the reorganization is to facilitate a more efficient deployment of 5G wireless broadband services, to take advantage of all the possibilities provided by 5G technology and, ultimately, to reduce costs in the deployment of mobile communications networks in this band.
After the rearrangement, the frequency allocation is as follows:
Guard band (frequencies that provide a safety margin to avoid interference): 3400-3420 MHz
Xfera Móvil, S.A. (Grupo MáMóvil). : 3420-3500 MHz
Telefónica de España, S.A.U, (40 MHz) and Telefónica Móvil España, S.A.U., (60) MHz): 3500-3600 MHz
Orange Espagne, S.A.U.,3600-3710 MHz
Vodafone España, S.A.: 3710-3800 MHz
Actions to avoid interference with the DTT
On the other hand, the technical actions to be carried out by telecommunications operators that have concessions of private use of the radio public domain in the bands of 800 have been published MHz and 700 MHz to ensure that the mobile electronic communications service in those bands does not interfere with the television service, which continues to be provided in band 470 to 694 MHz.
Both actions contribute to the promotion of 5G, a priority of the Recovery Plan that will mobilize investments worth 1500 M€For its development, and that will allow other technologies such as artificial intelligence, augmented reality or virtual reality to reach all its capabilities.
The characteristics of 5G technology (high speed, low latency, that is to say, very fast response time), allow us to improve communications, but above all it will have an impact on the way in which products are produced and distributed. It will have a direct influence on the transformation of broad sectors of the economy such as manufacturing, natural resource management, agro-industry, health or education. It will also impact on the mobility and logistics sector, allowing, among other applications, the autonomous vehicle.
