The Government agrees on an investment of 25 million to launch a one-stop shop and boost Spain’s role as an international audiovisual hub

The Council of Ministers has authorized the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Digital Transformation to invest 25 million euros to promote the internationalization of the Spanish audiovisual industry and promote Spain as a shooting destination. This investment will be made through the granting of an aid of 20 million euros to ICEX Exportation and Investments and another of 5 million euros to the Spain Film Commission to promote the Spanish audiovisual industry and its internationalization.
The Council of Ministers has authorized the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Digital Transformation to invest 25 million euros to promote the internationalization of the Spanish audiovisual industry and promote Spain as a shooting destination. This investment will be made through the granting of an aid of 20 million euros to ICEX Exportation and Investments and another of 5 million euros to the Spain Film Commission to promote the Spanish audiovisual industry and its internationalization.
These investments are part of the development of ‘Spain, audiovisual hub of Europe’, the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan, which have the strategic objective of turning our country into a platform for audiovisual production worldwide and increasing production in Spain by 30% in the period 2021-2025.
Con estas ayudas, ICEX Exportación e Inversiones pondrá en marcha diferentes acciones. Among them, the creation of a single window, called ‘Spain Audiovisual Hub Bureau’, to facilitate the internationalization of Spanish companies interested in its activity. From there, assistance will also be provided to international companies that are interested in undertaking audiovisual production projects or establishing themselves in Spain.
In addition, it will promote this cultural industry internationally with the development of communication and advertising campaigns; participation in events, sectoral technical conferences, fairs, markets and congresses; and will carry out commercial missions of professionals to target countries and attract commercial visits to Spain.
For its part, the non-profit association Spain Film Commission will execute an action plan aimed at improving the competitiveness of Spain as a destination for international filming and strengthening the business fabric of the Spanish audiovisual sector.
The grant is intended for the implementation of five programmes:
- Spain Film Talent Network: creation of a social network that will bring together Spanish audiovisual talent including companies and professionals from all areas of the audiovisual sector.
- Spain Film Friendly Land: strengthening the territorial network of Spain Film Commission, which, together with the expansion of the catalogue of locations, monuments and reference sites, will increase the number of filming throughout the Spanish territory, with special attention to remote, rural or urban locations, as well as in depopulated areas.
- Platform Transmedia Spain Film: updating the information offer, both in its contents and formats, creating a transmedia platform.
- Shooting in Spain: empowerment of the various actions that already groups this marketing and communication strategy through which the image Spain is promoted as a destination for filming and investments in the audiovisual sector, in coordination with the network of partners of the Spain Film Commission in the autonomous communities and main cities of Spain, and the State institutions involved.
- Spain Virtual Locations: creation of some three-dimensional pilot of monuments, buildings and urban spaces outstanding and representative of Spanish architecture and urbanism, recognized as symbols of our history and culture.
