  • The Working Group is one of the governance instruments envisaged in the “Plan to boost the audiovisual sector, “Spain Hub Audiovisual of Europe” Posted on March 24th
  • The purpose is to create a coordination framework to achieve the strategic objective of turning Spain into the main audiovisual hub of Europe by promoting national audiovisual production, attracting investment, strengthening companies in the sector improving their competitiveness through digitalization and supporting talent, reducing the gender gap.
  • The specific goal of the Audiovisual Sector Promotion Plan is to increase audiovisual production in Spain by at least 30%
  • It comprises reforms and public investments amounting to 1,600 million euros, financed in part with the resources of the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan

    The Government today approved the creation of an inter-ministerial Working Group to coordinate the actions of promotion, collaboration, cooperation and evaluation of the Plan to promote the audiovisual sector, “Spain, Audiovisual Hub of Europe” that was presented on March 24.
    The creation of this Working Group is foreseen in the Plan to Boost the Audiovisual Sector as one of the governance instruments of the same. It will be chaired by the Secretary of State for Telecommunications and Digital Infrastructure, while its Vice-Presidency is held by the Under-Secretary of the Ministry of Culture and Sport.
    In addition, the group has spokespersons belonging to several ministerial departments:
    The Spain Audiovisual Hub of Europe Plan is one of the components of the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan. It expects a public investment of 1,603 million euros for the period 2021-2025, of which 200 correspond to the resources of the Plan. Its goal is to increase the audiovisual production made in Spain by 30% at the end of the period.
    The Spain Hub Audiovisual Plan of Europe consists of 15 measures and four axes of action to significantly boost the entire value chain of the audiovisual industry through the promotion of national audiovisual production, the attraction of investment, the reinforcement of companies in the sector improving their competitiveness through digitalization and the support of talent, reducing the gender gap.
    Audiovisual culture is present in all areas of today’s society and forms a strategic sector interconnected with other economic sectors. Therefore, the Plan is based on an integrative approach that covers all formats (cinema, series, shorts, advertising, video games or animation…) and its interrelation with tourism and the country’s image itself.
    The promotion of the audiovisual sector will contribute to technological and economic development, job creation, the maintenance of a diverse cultural offer and the growth and strengthening of the country's cultural and creative industries, whose potential must take advantage of the opportunities of a global market.
