13/02/2025

The Ministry for Digital Transformation and Public Service, through the General Secretariat of Digital Administration, has held a hybrid seminar on the evolution of the European Infrastructure of Blockchain Services (EBSI network). This act is part of the activities of dissemination of this network, associated with the European Consortium EBSI-NE, led from Spain.

The day reflects the interest in technological innovation of the Government of Spain, as well as the firm commitment to move forward in an intergovernmental collaboration in Europe, and with the private sector, in the challenge of creating, through this technology, verifiable and reliable cross-border services for citizens and companies. The objective of the meeting and the EBSI initiative is to advance in the recognition of the potential of the Blockchain to improve digital services, benefiting public administrations, companies and citizens alike.

The day was inaugurated by Santiago Graña, Deputy Director General of Planning and Governance of the Digital Administration of the Ministry, and was attended by several relevant actors in the development of the EBSI network, both in the public and private sectors. Aspects related to specific use cases have been dealt with, such as digital identity or academic diplomas; network governance; the participation of all Member States and the number of actors involved; as well as the challenges of the future once the EUROPEUM-EDIC consortium has been formed, to which Spain joined last year.
