The business project that will promote the creation of a cyber-secure chip design center, Quantix Edge Security, has taken its first administrative steps towards its next constitution as a company. The union will be composed of the Murcian companies OdinS and TProtege, the French company SEALSQ and the Swiss company WISeKey, along with the participation of the State through the Spanish Society for Technological Transformation (SETT), a public entity that will channel the participation of the State of 49% of the social capital of the new company.

After the approval at the Council of Ministers on June 17 of a strategic investment of 19.6 million euros by the Government of Spain, the work has continued with a new contact that has been made at the headquarters of the Ministry for Digital Transformation and the Public Service to address the planning of administrative procedures for the constitution of the new company.

During the day, representatives of the industrial partners, José Trigueros, CEO of the Spanish OdinS and TProtege, and Carlos Moreira, CEO of the Swiss WISeKey and the French SealSQ, met with leaders of the SETT.

In addition, they held a meeting with María González Veracruz, Secretary of State for Digitalization and Artificial Intelligence, in which they celebrated and valued very positively the recent investment approved by the Government of Spain, and the forecast to reach 40 million euros of investment with the initial private contribution.

A strategic project for technology sovereignty

The next step for this project is to establish the new company Quantix Edge Security, which will be in charge of developing in the Region of Murcia a center specialized in technologies of customization and security of semiconductors. This center will include advanced services for secure elements such as cryptographic keys, security modules and digital certificates. In addition, it will also house facilities for the production, customization and encapsulation of microchips, as well as a white room, R+D+I laboratories in microelectronics and areas for the testing of wafers.

In terms of employment, the project envisages the progressive creation of 250 skilled jobs: 40 in the first two years, 70 in the third and 152 to the fifth, thus consolidating a technological pole that generates talent and opportunities in the field of cybersecurity and semiconductors.

The location of the center will be in the Region of Murcia, already having several options available for its definitive location, which will be decided under strategic, technical and operational criteria once the company is constituted.

Secure and resilient technology for the post-quantum era

Quantix is consolidated as an international joint venture aligned with the PERTE Chip and Agenda España Digital 2026 promoted by the Government of Spain with the aim of contributing to European technological sovereignty with the creation of a national value chain in microelectronics and cybersecurity. Its target market focuses on post-quantum resistant products, essential for defense applications, critical infrastructures, IoT, automotive, healthcare, cloud storage or digital transactions.

The center also seeks to reduce dependence on non-European suppliers, offering its own technological ecosystem from chip design to certification and deployment, with sovereign digital identity technologies and secure critical infrastructures.
