Quantum technologies represent an unprecedented scientific and technological advance that will transform our understanding of the world and our ability to face the great challenges of the 21st century. Spain, aligned with European initiatives and aware of the growing global competition, has designed a National Strategy of Quantum Technologies that seeks to strengthen digital sovereignty, boost competitiveness and promote sustainable, ethical and regulated development. This strategy is the result of a joint effort between ministries, universities, research centers, autonomous communities, companies and civil society, with the aim of building a robust and integrated quantum ecosystem.
The National Strategy sets out a clear roadmap for consolidating progress, accelerating innovation and making a tangible impact on key sectors such as health, energy, defence or digital security. It also calls for public-private collaboration and coordinated action to ensure that the benefits of quantum technologies reach society as a whole in an inclusive and equitable manner. With vision, ambition and commitment, Spain is positioned to lead this technological revolution and move towards a deep, sustainable and inclusive digital transformation.
