A Coruña, June 18, 2024.- The Ministry for Digital Transformation and Public Function and the Concello da Coruña have signed this afternoon the agreement that articulates the transfer of the building La Terraza as the headquarters of the Spanish Agency for Supervision of Artificial Intelligence (AESIA).
The document, signed by José Luis Escrivá, minister for Digital Transformation and Public Function, and Inés Rey, mayor of A Coruña, establishes the transfer of the building La Terraza, located in the central gardens of Méndez Nuñez, for a period of four years free of charge. In addition, the agreement stipulates that the City Council will take over the necessary works for the adaptation of the spaces to the needs of the Agency, which will begin in the coming weeks. For its part, the AESIA will be responsible for the adaptation of the spaces and supplies of the property.
The signing ceremony was also attended by the President of the Agency, Mayte Ledo, Secretary of State for Digitalization and Artificial Intelligence, and Ignasi Belda, Director General of AESIA, in which it was their first public act in this responsibility.
With the recent appointment of Belda as Director-General, it is expected that in the coming weeks the processes of selection of the rest of the AESIA staff will begin.
Minister Escrivá thanked the Concello da Coruña for the transfer of an emblematic building such as La Terraza, which with the arrival of the Agency will become a nerve center of innovation and debate on technology. In addition, he has celebrated the fact that the Agency is installed “in a city like Coruña, which in recent years has become a pole of talent and research”.
