Open the selection process for the director or director of the Spanish Agency for Supervision of Artificial Intelligence

Through an open call, it seeks to find the ideal profile to lead the body, pioneer in Europe and destined to promote the national debate on the opportunities and risks of this technology

The head of the Agency’s Management, based in the city of A Coruña, will be responsible for the ordinary management of the organ, and will have a fundamental role in the Agency’s relationship with the national and international ecosystem.

The candidacies will be evaluated by a Selection and Evaluation Tribunal, which will be appointed by the Presidency of the AESIA In the next few days

The Ministry for Digital Transformation and the Civil Service, through its Secretary of State for Digitalization and Artificial Intelligence, has opened the process of submitting candidacies to occupy the title of the General Directorate of the Spanish Agency for Supervision of Artificial Intelligence (AESIA).

Through an Expression of Interest, people interested in the position will be able to present their candidacy, accrediting the experience and qualities that qualify them as suitable for the position.

The process will be open until the next 9th of May.

The candidacies received will be evaluated individually by a Selection and Evaluation Tribunal that will be appointed in the coming days by the Presidency of the AESIA.

Following the ruling of this court, the President of the AESIA (in this case, the holder of the Secretary of State for Digitalization and Artificial Intelligence), will present to the Governing Council of the AESIA the candidacy chosen for the Directorate-General, and the Governing Council shall be responsible for appointing it officially, as provided by the Article 16 of the Statute of the Agency, approved by Royal Decree 729/2023.

This body must be a reference profile in the field that, among others, accredits the following characteristics:

Academic and technical experience in the field of Artificial Intelligence, showing a solid understanding of algorithms, foundational models and different tools of IA.
Management and leadership skills, being able to lead a multidisciplinary team and manage human and economic resources effectively.
Legal knowledge and ethical perspective, being familiar with the state of the regulatory frameworks worldwide in this field and with profound mastery of the ethical challenges that the advancement of this technology entails.
Network of contacts, having the capacity to generate a network of contacts with the leaders and fundamental actors of the industry, both in the business, academic and institutional fields.

Spanish Agency of Supervision of the IA

In addition to carrying out supervisory, advisory, awareness-raising and training tasks aimed at entities of the Artificial Intelligence ecosystem for the proper implementation of all national and European regulations, the Agency will be the driving force behind the debates on ethics and security that must be guaranteed while promoting the innovation and development of this technology.

This exercise focused on thinking and generating knowledge about Artificial Intelligence itself will be a large part of the daily activity of Artificial Intelligence. AESIA, and fundamental to establish its importance at national and international level.
