The Secretary of State for Digitalization and Artificial Intelligence participates in the Global Forum on Ethics of Artificial Intelligence 2024, organized by UNESCO and the Government of Slovenia
The Secretary of State for Digitalization and Artificial Intelligence, Mayte Ledo, has participated in the Global Forum on the Ethics of Artificial Intelligence 2024, organized by UNESCO and the Government of Slovenia. This event has brought together high-level representatives from governments, academia, the private sector and civil society to discuss the challenges and opportunities that AI presents for sustainable development and inclusion.
The Secretary of State for Digitalization and Artificial Intelligence, Mayte Ledo, has participated in the Global Forum on the Ethics of Artificial Intelligence 2024, organized by UNESCO and the Government of Slovenia. This event has brought together high-level representatives from governments, academia, the private sector and civil society to discuss the challenges and opportunities that AI presents for sustainable development and inclusion.
The participation of the Secretary of State in this forum strengthened Spain’s commitment to the development and ethical use of AI, sharing experiences and good practices in this field, and establishing collaborative relationships with other countries and international organizations.
During the forum, Ledo held several bilateral meetings, including with Emilija Stojmenova Duh, Minister of Digital Transformation of Slovenia, and with Gabriela Ramos, Assistant Director-General for Social and Human Sciences of UNESCO. In addition, he participated in the opening ceremony of the forum and the ministerial session on the regional approach to promoting ethical governance of AI.
In her speech at the ministerial session, the Secretary of State highlighted the pioneering role of Spain in the approval of the first global regulation on Artificial Intelligence by the European Union. In addition, he emphasized the importance of this adaptive regulation, designed to evolve along with AI. He also highlighted the Spanish government’s commitment to strengthening AI capabilities and public sector leadership in responsible innovation, with the aim of ensuring that the AI revolution benefits all citizens.
