The Minister for Digital Transformation and the Civil Service, José Luis Escrivá, and the President of the Government of La Rioja, Gonzalo Capellán, have agreed to the launch of a Spanish Industry Center within the framework of the Valle de la Lengua project, developed between the two administrations. This new Center will aim to promote the New Language Economy, creating a data space in Spanish supported by Artificial Intelligence (AI) that can be used by institutions and companies for the development of tools and applications with productive, industrial and research uses.

The project will be based on several axes: the promotion of Spanish language models for generative AI, the standardization of open-structured data that can be exploited through automated techniques and the creation of portals with this data for institutional and business use. The aim is to create an international benchmark in the field of Large Language Models (LLM) and other AI tools that provide solutions to the demands of public and private organizations. In addition, the Centre will support innovation in the language tourism sector in La Rioja in the field of teaching in Spanish.

In the coming weeks, the statute that will govern the governance body and the functions and scope of the Center will be defined, as well as the agreements and alliances that it will establish with institutions, universities and companies from both Spain and Latin America. The Ministry and Government of La Rioja have also agreed on the professional profile that will be managed by the governance body and that will be operational in the coming days.
