The Ministry for Digital Transformation and Public Service publishes the proposed resolution of the ENIA Chairs
The Ministry for Digital Transformation and the Civil Service, through the Secretary of State for Digitalization and Artificial Intelligence, has published the provisional resolution of the Chairs ENIA, that is, the projects approved within the framework of this initiative to continue advancing in the development of applications based on Artificial Intelligence. The fundamental objective of the Chairs ENIA It is to create a set of chairs attached to different universities throughout the territory, in order to continue developing research related to the application of this technology in different areas of knowledge.
In addition, the chairs will promote the promotion of the professional and university training offer aimed at the development of this technology, reinforcing the capacities of research and knowledge transfer in the fields in which they will be applied.
In order to establish the criteria and requirements for the selection of chairs, the Government launched a Statement of Interest published in 2022, in which information was gathered on potential lines of research and typology of research projects.
Finally, in November 2022, the initiative “Cátedras” was presented ENIA”, with a budget of 16 million euros belonging to Component 16 of the Transformation and Resilience Recovery Plan and established thematic areas to follow:
In addition to connecting the IA With the different topics referenced, the chairs placed special emphasis on public-private collaboration and its sustainability.
The resolution published in January 2024 provides for the admission of 15 national chairs and 7 international chairs that will address around 10 areas of knowledge such as IA Responsible and ethical, music and the arts, health sciences or green algorithms, among others.
Public universities such as the University of Granada, the Carlos III University of Madrid, the University of Girona or the University of Alicante are among the universities that will benefit from the programme and that will implement the aid.
The proposal for a provisional resolution granting the call for Chairs ENIA It has been published on January 23, 2024, giving rise to the beginning of the 10-day deadline for the submission of claims under the national subsidy regulations.
